This diary is kept by hobby photographers situated in southern Finland. Most pictures are "straight from cam" except for occasional cropping.

I'm assuming this is a barn stained red. It must be beautiful against a green landscape. ;-)

Hey Yrsa, do you think that red is spray painted? I have a pine book case I sprayed lightly with red paint, the grains show through.

Although red is the classic color for old wood, I'm kind of partial to the more weathered wood on the left. The grain showing is nice.

Thankyou for all comments and interesting guesses on the origin: these pics are not a barn, nor a fence and no - the wood has not been spray painted.
The wood in the buildings belong to an old dwelling house in the Archipelago - this particular part of the building dates back to the early 19th century (that is - the buildings oldest parts and these logs are about 200 years old). The logs are partly in rather good condition as they have been covered by planks for most of the time. The exposed parts are more weathered. The red colour is typical of this kind of dwellings with an age of 100 years+ in Finland. Lately the colour has been used in new wooden buildings as well.
